Autumn Ageing - Thursday May 24th 2001
You are invited to share in the experience of
'autumn ageing' at the dairy
farm of Helen and Darryl Fitzpatrick at Waroona
in the beautiful south-west.
Helen writes....
Come and enjoy the peace and quiet of some of the
south-west countryside, at a dairy
farm 2 miles south-west of the rural town of
Waroona, and soak up the peaceful ambient
atmosphere that Fresian cows create! These gentle
'ladies' are never in a hurry,
and watching them one sees a beautiful creation
of non-violence
Note the change of date from May 17th to May 24th.
You are welcome to stay overnight, BYO sleeping
bags and/or camping gear.
Theme: "the journey from violence to
wholeness - what are we shedding?" will
provide us with an opportunity to explore what we
are letting go of as we deepen our own journey
towards wholeness....
as usual, we will construct our agenda for the
day when we gather in the morning, enabling us to
organise our time according to our needs.
Time: 9.30 - 4pm, Thursday, May 24, 2001 Place:
Waroona, WA
BYO lunch to share.
Staying Cool in Hot Spots
A group of People of the Way found the
weekend retreat, 'Summer Sun, Sand and Surf' at
Warnbro was a great way to stay cool in the
February heat. The shared experience of the
weekend inspired Fran to write the following poem
Warnbro By The Sea
Fish and chips by the sea
What a lovely place to be.
Sounds of laughter fill the air,
Dark, warm night with friends to share.
Wave of sea beckoning me,
"Come, my love, I'll dance with thee"
Tai Chi, dance of the soul,
Flow through me and make me whole.
Birds of the air, soar within,
On wings of song my Beloved does sing.
Sounds of the earth, beat of my own heart
Echoes the song of the Universal Heart.
Half a moment we are together
Wrapped in silence, born anew
In the sweet clear air of stillness,
Half a moment spent with You.
Fran Ellyard
After reading an article in the
newspaper, Pat Mohen penned this short reflection....
A Nike Story
NIKE, that oh so sacred name
in sports wear and foot wear
have offered to personalise your shoes
for just ninety-five American dollars
they will stitch the word or phrase
of your choice under the famous logo
Well this bloke placed an order
his word of choice was SWEATSHOP
the firm refused citing blasphemy laws
the said order form was then returned
it's hard to beat the really big firms
they make and break all the laws
the applicant had to change the word
and in replying made but one request
could the all powerful god of Nike
send him a personal photograph
of the ten year old Vietnamese girl
who made his shoes at slave rates..
If you can't beat them, join them!
